President, Mary Foster, called the meeting to order at 3:30 P.M.

<>
Board members present:  All present except for Field Trip Coordinator, Ernie Laszlo.
<>

Minutes of Previous meeting: Mary Foster, No business was discussed due to lack of quorum.

Treasurer Report: Carolyn Downey passed out copies of the treasurer report. We need to cash in the CD to pay our upcoming bills. Pat Binon made a motion that we cash in the CD. Yvonne Beattie seconded. Motion was voted on and passed.

CFMS Report: Inez Terra, Nothing to report.

Membership:  Yvonne Beattie passed out an updated membership roster. We have 19 paid member. 2 more paid at the board meeting.  Jeanette Newton was asked to put notice out in the newsletter that members will be pulled from roster if not paid by April.

Old/New Business:

Mary Foster asked for volunteers to fill vacant Chairs:

Judi Gooch volunteered to chair the audit committee for 2009. We need two more from the general membership to assist.

Carolyn Downey is looking into getting a credit card process for the shop. There would be an initial cost of around $154.00, $9.95 per month plus a fee of 1.65% plus $0.23 per transaction. It is more expensive to accept American Express cards. It was determined that there may not be enough usage to warrant the expense. Carolyn made a motion that we table the credit card issue until March. Pat Binon seconded. Motion was voted on and passed.

The Mariposa Gem & Mineral Show is the 10th & 11th of April. We need a raffle for the show. Pat Binon and Yvonne Beattie volunteered as co-chairmen for the raffle. There is a cost for using the kitchen. We could have a coffee pot at our booth and let the vendors know they can get free coffee at our booth. We need to move the club stuff to the show. Dusty Luker volunteered as Booth Chairman for the show. Individuals who have materials in the shop are responsible for moving their own stuff. Felix Romero volunteered as Geode chairman for the show.

We need to advertise the Rockhound activities of the club. If members have interesting articles send them to Jeanette Newton for the newsletter. Have Ernie Laszlo submit an article on the last field trip. Ernie Laszlo is working on the activities for the year. We need to have Ernie submit the schedule of events to Jeanette for the upcoming month.

Dusty is working with Ernie on coordinating the meeting programs with the upcoming activities. Dusty was asked to submit meeting programs for the month to Jeanette.

We need to use the workshop. It’s costing money to maintain the shop.

Jeanette Newton volunteered as Publicity Chairman. We need to prepare a brochure with an application to join the club. We can have that at the shop and available at the April show.

Inez will put up a flyer with the merit badges available to the Junior Rockhound program at the shop window.

Inez is planning to offer a Soap Stone carving class. She will charge $5.00 per person plus $10.00 for materials. Inez will have tools that they can borrow or buy. Need to charge sales tax on all items sold. She may need two classes to finish the project.

We should have an Open House one week before the April Show. The last Saturday in March is the 27th. Hours should be 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.   It was suggested that there be various demonstrations for the public (need volunteers)  and a MGMC information booth which Jeanette agreed to host.

We need to setup a schedule for using the equipment in the workshop. New users need to coordinate with Gary Gooch on how to use the equipment. There is a cost for using the workshop. At the May 2009 general meeting it was determined that users would pay $1.00 per hour to cover the electricity bill. This includes those attending classes.

CFMS dues need to be paid. Pat made a motion we pay the CFMS dues. Inez seconded. Motion was voted on and passed.

Board meetings will be held on the 1st Monday of each month at 3:30 P.M.

Inez made a motion we adjourn the meeting. Pat seconded. Motion voted on and passed. Meeting adjourned at 4:24 P.M.
